Ficelle getting pinned after that sword toss was such a smart move and it shows why Beryl is the best teacher for these academy kids

I am so glad Beryl still thinks he is some random old guy even after he threw his sword to win that duel against a top mage

Ficelle being a terrible teacher was actually pretty funny. She just tells people to swing a thousand times and Beryl had to step in before the students died of boredom

It felt so good to me when the students realized their textbook theory was useless compared to Beryl showing them how to actually hold a blade

I really missed this show and seeing Beryl back in his element as a teacher is the best way to start the season, especially with that fight against Ficelle. The choreography was so much better than most fantasy shows since it focuses on actual footing and weight instead of just shouting names of moves. It makes the academy setting feel fresh

Beryl throwing his wooden sword at Ficelle just to tackle her was such a smart move. It shows he actually knows how to fight for real and not just follow rules like the academy kids

Lucy literally blasting the door open just to mess with Beryl is the energy this show needed. Her mana orb test was cool

Watching Beryl fix Cindie's stance made me remember why I liked the first season so much. It is nice seeing him back to teaching his students the basics

The way the sword fights look so grounded with the weight behind every swing is better than any flashy magic. That duel at the academy proved it

The story format is pretty much the same as the previous season. Beryl remains unconvinced of his own abilities even though the others see him differently. The animation is pretty much the same as the previous season and there are no significant art changes unlike with a certain anime about a mob character that was reincarnated 😏. Anyone who has seen the previous season will probably recognize this anime's formula. As expected, this episode didn't stray far from it sticking closely to the established style and pacing. While it was predictable, it remained consistent with what I have come to expect.

The academy setting is a nice change of pace. Seeing Beryl work with magic students opens the door for some really interesting lessons.

Beryl is still the most humble guy in the room, even though everyone around him knows he's ridiculously skilled. That never gets old. 😂

Season 2 gets off to a solid start. It doesn't rush into a huge conflict and instead reminds everyone why Beryl is such a great teacher.

EPISODE CONTEXT

As the direct successor to Season 1's conclusion, this episode functions as a deliberate reset, reestablishing Beryl's circumstances and recalibrating his relationships before new pressures arrive. The reintroduction of Alyucia in an elevated role signals that the season intends to explore how the bonds Beryl forged now carry greater stakes. What is set up here, in terms of character positioning and unresolved tensions, forms the foundation that subsequent episodes will build upon.
