Rin standing at the old elementary school pool hits differently because it brings nostalgia and it is unresolved everything, and you can feel how much that place still controls his emotions even years later.

HAHAHA the entire “don’t let Haru see Rin” plan turns into a low-budget stealth mission where Nagisa and Makoto are distractions, Rei is basically a detective, and Haru somehow still figures everything out anyway xD

Episode Context

Coming off the high of qualifying for regionals, episode 9 functions as a deliberate cooldown at the three-quarter mark, the emotional exhale before the final competitive push. The Iwatobi team has earned their spot, and this festival episode lets the personal dynamics and unresolved feelings breathe before the regional arc dominates the final three episodes. It's a transitional pivot point, consolidating character growth to give the coming stakes real weight.
