it made my night when Ryou stood her ground and finally stopped being stuck in the middle of those two guys and their ego trips

the tension between the childhood friend label and being an actual boyfriend was the best part of this whole episode and it turned that transition into something much more grounded than the early episodes

you can see how much Rei still gets under Souma's skin and it makes their work collaboration so awkward to watch

the shift from being kids to actually dating felt so huge and Souma looks so good in those flashback scenes

Souma claiming Ryou in front of Rei like that hit me hard because it makes the childhood friend dynamic feel so much more intense than before

Everything about Souma fully embracing being the boyfriend instead of just the guy she grew up with was a huge step for them

That ending felt a bit rushed and it would have been better with more depth on the transition from childhood friends to lovers but it was still a decent wrap up

I'm just so glad Souma and Ryou finally got on the same page and even though Rei tried to stir things up, it just made them stronger. I think their history as childhood friends gives them a bond that the ex could never touch and seeing them act like a real couple instead of just pining was the best part of the whole finale

Watching Ryou and Rei have to team up despite their past was such a weird dynamic but it definitely made the Souma moments later in the episode feel so much sweeter

I was worried the ex-boyfriend drama would drag on forever but this episode focused on the main couple and their history together which was exactly what I wanted

Her decision to pick her own path feels right, and Souma is definitely the boyfriend she deserves after all those years of just being friends

Souma looking at Ryou like that makes it obvious he was always the one and Rei needs to just give up already

Why is this show so short and the constant presence of the ex hanging around the edges of every scene made it feel way too crowded

Souma and Ryou are so much better together and seeing them finally act like a real couple after all that drama with Rei was the best part

My heart melted when they talked about being childhood friends because it makes their current relationship feel way more special to me than whatever she had with her ex

Watching Soma have to listen to that confession made me feel so bad for him but it was good to see them finally talking about the ex situation

The way Ryo opened up about her ex at Kedamaru Land was a big deal, since that whole situation was reaching a breaking point

Rei needs to back off and let them be happy together because he had his chance and he blew it a long time ago

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 7 left unresolved tensions and complicated feelings between the central trio hanging in the air, making this finale the direct payoff to that emotional buildup. As the final episode of the season, Episode 8 provides closure on the relationship arcs that have defined the series, particularly the push-pull between past bonds and present feelings. There is no next episode, this is where the season's threads are meant to land.
