And the plot thickens, pure tense moments one after the other. We get too almost all the Servants interact, and it builds up the stakes from here going forward. I would say, I do love the choice of animation for Berserker, best impression out of everyone who showed up!

This episode demonstrates how difficult it is to animate the Fate/Zero series. from Rider's amusing interruption until the arrival of Gilgamesh, the wealthy, and Berserker's terrible aura. The assembly of kings has begun. Epic Chaos is what this is.

With only just a few minutes of screentime, Gilgamesh steals the show with his unique personality and extremely poweful noble phantasm, establishing him as the most powerful servant out of the others

Rider was the real MVP in this episode. The story writers knew what they were doing by letting him control the outcome of that event. And seeing how each hero interacts with their master gives us subtle clues on how this war might turn out.

The pacing is picking up well now that the war is starting to go into full-swing. Different strategies of each of the master and servant pairs are getting more prominent and none of it feels redundant or overlapping. Good sign of masterful story writing. But starting to get bored as the fighting has been going on for a while now.

Archer knows how to steal the spotlight, definitely the best part of this episode. His presence makes us realise the true scale of the Holy Grail War. And even with so much action happening, it never felt boring or overwhelming.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming directly off the Saber-Lancer duel in episode four, this episode dramatically raises the stakes by pulling additional Servants onto the same battlefield, transforming a contained fight into a multi-faction clash. At the rough midpoint of the first season's thirteen episodes, it serves as the pivotal moment where the Holy Grail War shifts from cautious opening moves to full-scale conflict. The rivalries, power dynamics, and grudges established here become the driving forces for everything that follows in the back half of the season.
