Best prologue opening for a great series. You got all the character introductions and worldbuilding jam packed. It feels a little bit slow, but thats cus it takes it time. First time watchers will be in for a treat! Kariya's story and motivation tho... so sad.

From the magician's sinister scheme to the servant call, this tale is spectacular. This lovely cartoon has a somewhat somber tone. Fighting is a principle as well as a source of energy.

Unlike other anime where it follows one or two characters in its run time, Fate/Zero follows 7 masters all vying for the Holy Grail. This episode serves as a introduction to the players and their motivations for joining the war

Ufotable doesn’t just shine in action scenes. This episode’s tone and atmosphere are already satisfying even with all the lore-heavy dialogue. Come mentally prepared so you don’t miss key details. LiSA’s opening theme perfectly sets the mood.

Veteran Fate series fans would have a field day watching this first episode, especially if they love its world-building. Even without major action scenes, the art and animation are top-tier.

I understand that the Fate series is intimidating to start for people unfamiliar to the series, but Ep 1 eases you into things quite well. The first few minutes feel slow with the serious tone and the conversations but it sets you up for what's to come by the end of the episode. Huge payoff!

Fresh animation vs the old FSN! Ufotable is amazing! It was interesting to see some recurring from FSN and some new ones and to see the older generation of the Holy Grail War. Very heavy on jargons but it was subtly explained, I love the dark vibes! Also, Saber is so cooool

EPISODE CONTEXT

As episode one of thirteen, this premiere exists purely to establish the stakes, factions, and character dynamics that will drive every conflict ahead. No battles occur here — the episode instead builds the psychological and political groundwork that makes the coming Servant summonings and Holy Grail War confrontations meaningful. Everything introduced here pays dividends across the full season.
