EPISODE REVIEWS

Seeing the younger pilots getting adjusted to the reality of what they have to face is always bittersweet in Fafner. The training sequences do a great job showing their raw determination mixed with that inevitable, underlying dread. You can really feel the gap between their innocence and the burden being forced onto them

I liked that this episode focused more on the characters than the fights. Watching the new pilots slowly step into their responsibilities made everything feel more personal. There were also a few funny moments that balanced the heavier tone nicely. It feels like the calm before another storm.

Things are getting real now. Even if there wasn't much focus on the story, the focus on the new pilots was great. And I sort of understand why they are being used now. But man, it was a bit sad as well to learn of the history of previous pilots. They've got a tough task ahead of them. I have a feeling the characters we saw at the start will play a major role in the coming episodes.
