the space journey felt like it was going somewhere until those kids showed up and ruined the pacing of the trip to Namek

I really thought they finally made it to Namek but no it is just another filler planet and these weird kids trying to fight us for no reason

you can definitely tell this is filler because the plot completely stops so we can watch these random aliens throw stones at the main cast

The animation in some of these space scenes looks pretty good, but it is hard to care when you know none of this matters for the actual plot

I am so tired of these side tracking episodes because I just want to see the real Namek and find out what is going on with Vegeta or Goku but instead we get Bulma yelling at space kids while Gohan and Krillin try to play hero for people who hate them and I hope this fake Namek stuff ends fast

bulma taking charge of the ship is the only thing keeping this episode together while we wait to actually get to the real planet

I felt bad for the kids whose home was ruined by Frieza and the tension when they first got captured was really something

The terror those children felt towards anyone related to Frieza really shows how much damage he did across the universe, even if this part of the story is not in the manga

it is wild that Krillin almost killed a bunch of kids just because he was jumpy after the Saiyan fight and good thing they talked it out

watching Krillin and Gohan get bullied by a bunch of random orphans is actually hilarious when you think about how strong they are now

Krillin really surprised me by stepping up to try and lead when they were totally lost in space, it was such a change from his usual freaking out. I felt like he was genuinely trying to push past his fears and look out for everyone, which was pretty awesome to see him do.

This filler episode actually surprised me with how much I enjoyed watching Gohan and Krillin still pushing their limits with mental training after all that chaos; it really shows their incredible determination. Then, to see Goku, fresh off a brutal fight with Vegeta, completely lose his cool over a single shot was just peak Goku, and I couldn't help but laugh at how quickly he goes from hero to hilariously dramatic.

Whoa, I was seriously surprised by how absolutely massive that camouflaged ship was, it just makes me realize how much we still haven't seen in this universe. Honestly though, those kids popping up on it were pretty annoying and I kept wishing someone would just tell them to chill out.

Ugh, Master Roshi was totally back at it with his pervy antics toward the nurses, and honestly, I just kept groaning. It's such a classic Roshi thing to do, but it really takes me out of the more serious hospital stuff, you know?

I wasn't surprised at all to see Vegeta stewing in his healing pod, totally ticked off after getting beaten. It's just so him, always so proud that even when he's down, he's planning his next move to get back on top.

I get that Bulma's always been a bit extra and messy, so her being bored on the ship totally tracked with me. But then she gets snatched by a bunch of kids in a giant spaceship, and I was just thinking, "Really? We're doing *this* right now?" It felt like such a weird side quest when there's so much else going on.

Gohan actually imagining the Special Beam Cannon while training with Krillin was such a huge surprise to me, like woah, my guy really took Piccolo's brutal lessons to heart. I just can't get over how much that tough love from Piccolo is shaping Gohan, even after all the crazy stuff they went through.

Seriously, I almost burst out laughing when they found that ridiculously huge ship and then this whole child army plot kicked off; it was such a wild detour from Frieza's goons, I was like "wait, what show am I watching right now?!"

I seriously cracked up when Goku, who just went toe-to-toe with Vegeta, was absolutely petrified by a tiny needle in the hospital; it's so perfectly him to be a total wuss about something so small after a life-or-death battle. It just reminded me that even the strongest Saiyan has his hilarious, mundane fears, which I think makes him even more endearing.

Krillin and Gohan were totally cracking me up with their shenanigans on that weird spaceship, but honestly, I found myself just kinda zoning out during the "tense" parts. It's tough for me to invest when it screams filler, and I already know nothing truly wild is going to happen to them this early on.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off 'Nursing Wounds' and the aftermath of the Saiyan Saga, this episode marks the official departure from Earth and the beginning of the journey to Namek. As a filler entry, it doesn't advance the source material, but it bridges the gap between the recovery phase and the high-stakes Namek arc that will dominate the next stretch of episodes. The space voyage setup here leads directly into the encounters and escalating dangers the crew will face before ever setting foot on Namek.
