Buu turning his eyes red after taking that punch was a small detail but it made him look way more intimidating while he was just standing there taking those hits

Episode Context

Sitting at episode 258 of 291, this falls deep into the Buu Saga's most intense stretch, where the Z Fighters are running out of options and Gotenks represents one of their last viable countermeasures against Majin Buu's overwhelming power. Previous episodes established the fusion training between Goten and Trunks, and this episode capitalizes on that buildup by putting Gotenks center stage in combat. What unfolds here directly feeds into the saga's escalating power dynamics, setting the table for the arc's climactic confrontations still to come.
