I wonder if there's gonna be a Kanda backstory. We need to know why he's so cold. Vittorio seems like an absolute boss with that broadsword. He might be a little delusional though... Also love the fact that Allen is now taking an initiative in strategic thinking!

End of the swordsman filler arc. This one was a bit sadder as Vittorio comes to his senses that the princess he was fighting so valiantly for, out of both duty and love, is long gone. It's very bittersweet.

Good to see Victorio finally managed to finish his mission, and a little dark that he knew all along that his princess was gone and kept fighting still. Kanda had to trust in his mates, and then came up with a silly plan in my opinion, but it worked well enough! Good one!

The dark fairy-tale vibes in this episode are immaculate. Vittorio’s dedication to the Princess is tragic yet admirable, and their codependent relationship offers touching moments to offset the action. A great emotional payoff here, plus some really nice thinking by Kanda, too!

Vittorio’s drive to win every fight against anyone who wanted to marry Princess Sandra, and how deeply he loved her, ultimately led to the Innocence fragment consuming him. What a clever way for Yu to finally defeat Vittorio.

The enemy suddenly retreats which is great but also extremely suspicious.

The tension between fighters carries the pacing nicely, and the combat choreography gets more attention than usual. If you enjoy seeing characters pushed to prove themselves, this one delivers.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at episode 17 of 103, this episode is part of an early filler arc following 'Millennium Swordsman,' continuing the Rome-set storyline involving Vittorio and the Sardini family's secrets. It serves as the concluding chapter of that detour before the series moves forward into 'Lenalee's Love,' making it a bridge rather than a turning point in the broader canon narrative.
