Dera, ever practical, explains the function of this highway oasis. Hana holds up new clothes, a uniform for this new life, stripping away his old identity piece by piece.

Hana hands Yul a plastic bag, containing the plain uniform of the modern world: a t-shirt and trousers. His hand-woven clothes, steeped in history, are deemed conspicuous. Yul examines the thin fabric, a stark contrast to his own garments, while Dera makes a wry comment about his appearance. This small act is a large step in erasing his past.

Hana offers Yul his first onigiri, a simple triangle wrapped in plastic. He stares at it with genuine bewilderment, the packaging an impossible puzzle. Once opened, he takes a bite, and the world opens with it. His shouts of joy, declaring it 'food for the gods,' reveal a pure, untainted wonder, a brief respite from his trauma.

Over a meal, Dera and Hana discuss the practicalities of housing Yul, specifically the need for a plausible cover story. Dera, thinking pragmatically, suggests they pose as a married couple to appear more stable to landlords. Hana's reaction is immediate and visceral; her aura flares, and brass knuckles appear, silencing Dera's ill-conceived idea with a very real threat.

Right and Left, perched on the car, observe the mundane world with their detached, ancient gaze. Yul approaches them, ready for answers about his past. They speak of his and Asa's birth, twins signaling great change, and then the crushing revelation: his parents fled the village ten years prior, taking Asa and leaving him behind. Yul stands in stunned silence, betrayal settling deep within him.

Dera warns Yul about the Kagemori clan, explaining their ancient connection to Tsugai and their pursuit of power. The scene then cuts abruptly to Aoi, a woman trapped in a luxury high-rise, hunted by a knife-wielding stalker. Her terror is palpable as the stalker corners her in an elevator. A phone call from Jin of the Kagemori clan seals the stalker's fate, as a monstrous, fish-like Tsugai named Gabi manifests and devours the man whole.

Dera finally reveals his full name, Tadera Ryu, affirming his ancient ties to Yul's family as a hereditary guardian. He elaborates on the village's hidden barrier and the 'invisible path' his mother, an outsider, stumbled upon. This marriage was an unusual event, bridging two worlds that were never meant to meet, and it seems to be the origin of much of Yul's current predicament.

Right and Left describe the legendary powers of Release, known as 'Kai,' and Seal, or 'Fu.' They show the marks on their hands, ancient symbols of these cosmic forces. They then reveal that Yul and Asa are the living avatars of these immense powers in this generation, destined to shift the balance of the world. Yul wonders if he already possesses these abilities, but the Tsugai say they are dormant.

A tender flashback shows a young Yul with his mother, who gently explains his name means 'Night' in her language, meant to protect and ground him. Her smile holds an unspoken sadness. Yul now understands his name and Asa's, 'Morning,' were always meant to be intertwined, two halves of a whole. His fists clench; his resolve hardens to find the sister he barely remembers, to complete their fractured existence.

In a public restroom, Yul faces another modern marvel: the motion-sensor faucet. His attempts to make it work are clumsy and confused, resulting in a sudden spray of water. The loud, automatic hand dryer further assaults his senses, a jarring blend of convenience and noise. These small encounters are battlegrounds where he slowly begins to acclimate to this alien world.

Yul watches the city skyline grow, a jagged, imposing silhouette on the horizon. The sheer scale of the buildings, unlike anything he has ever known, overwhelms him. Dera and Hana navigate the bustling streets with ease, bringing Yul deeper into this concrete labyrinth. Dera hands him a modern flip phone, a 'life-line' in this new reality, emphasizing the importance of communication in this world.

Hana informs Dera that the new safehouse is ready for them, signaling an end to sleeping in the car. As the group nears their destination, the city's sprawl becomes more oppressive, yet it also represents a new chapter for Yul. He holds the flip phone Dera gave him, a small, tangible link to his new, overwhelming existence.
