I still find it hilarious that Hideaki Anno and Hiroyuki Kitakubo worked on this, because the animation is actually incredible for a parody. The sci-fi setting feels like a proto-Project A-Ko and I kept getting distracted by how good the mechanical designs looked. It is such a strange artifact of that era where top talent just made whatever they wanted
