It felt like three different shows were fighting for control and that sci-fi twist at the end made zero sense after that comedy opening

That bizarre space travel scene caught me by surprise because the colors were just so vibrant and looked really cool on my screen

The comedy bits were a bit too much and the slapstick didn't always land but at least the animation stayed consistent throughout the whole thing

That fantasy sequence felt like it came out of nowhere but the art style actually held up pretty well for something this old

I really liked the weird sci-fi backgrounds in this one and the way they mashed it with that idol stuff was so strange

The sci fi ending was very sudden and the vintage aesthetic really carries the whole experience through the slower wizard segments

It was interesting how they blended those different genres and Moriyama Tou clearly had a specific vision for how the characters should look

The anthology format makes it hard to get attached to anything but the fantasy visuals were decent and the humor segments were unusually catchy

Even though the pacing was a bit messy, the weird comedy beats and the detailed Moriyama art made it worth the watch for the nostalgia.

Some of those jokes are definitely dated but the sci fi aesthetic is cool and the parody elements kept things moving fast

Watching this made me realize how much modern stuff lacks this specific kind of chaotic energy and the Moriyama character designs are still excellent

I finally tracked down this episode and the Moriyama Tou influence is everywhere, which is great if you like that old school look from the mid eighties. It is basically a strange mix of short segments that feel like a fever dream and some of the comedy landed way better than the fantasy stuff did for me in the end.

I really like the retro Moriyama Tou style in this one because the character designs have that classic 80s look that you just do not see anymore

That bizarre fantasy segment felt totally out of place but the animation for the sci fi bits looked really good for such an old series

Moriyama art really helped those sci fi parody segments work even when the humor was getting a bit too weird

putting the most controversial parts front and center is typical for this series and it really makes you miss the hand drawn 80s look that the new stuff lacks

skipping through this one because recap episodes are usually a waste but the commentary from the director was actually kind of funny and gave some insight into the production madness

I missed seeing some of these older characters, so having a whole episode dedicated to Tou’s specific style was actually a nice change of pace even if it was just a recap

The parody bits were definitely the highlight, especially when they started poking fun at the typical fantasy tropes you usually see in this show.

it feels like a weird time capsule of everything that made the early ovas so bizarre and seeing all those classic scenes back to back made me realize how much the designs have changed

EPISODE CONTEXT

At episode 31 of 38, Cream Lemon is firmly in its final stretch, past the midpoint and approaching its conclusion. This episode's 'Best Hit' framing suggests it may function as a reflective pause before the series pushes toward its remaining seven installments. Rather than advancing a continuous narrative — fitting for an anthology series with no overarching plot spine — it holds its own as a self-contained entry that bridges the latter portion of the run without demanding prior investment in specific story threads.
