i hated the way the story ended with hiromu losing everything and becoming a girl for that witch because it just felt cruel and pointless

Shoko seemed so normal at first, but seeing her porcelain skin crack while Hiromu was with her was genuinely haunting and the witch part was even weirder.

his sister was right to be worried the whole time since shoko had been missing for five years and that whole reveal with the rotting body was gross

the scene where shoko falls apart and you see she is just a doll really got to me and i did not expect the witch to jump into hiromu like that

that ending was so messed up when hiromu just turned into a girl because of the witch and now he has to seduce people too

Sci-fi horror fits this show way better than the romance stuff the doll felt like something out of a nightmare and the way it moved through the shadows was actually spooky

That transformation at the end was such a weird sight you think it is going to be a simple fantasy story and then the sci-fi stuff kicks in and everything gets chaotic

The pacing was a bit sluggish in the middle there was a lot of talking before the doll actually did anything and the sci-fi technobabble felt a bit dated and slow

Nobody talks about the hand drawn mechanical details in these old shorts you see all the wires and the joints moving and it makes the doll feel much more physical than modern digital stuff

I have watched a lot of these older OVAs and Madol really surprised me with that strange mix of sci-fi and the typical adult scenes. The way the doll was designed with those empty eyes made me feel uneasy, and the soundtrack had this synth drone that fit the dark vibe perfectly. It was way more atmospheric than I expected.

That ending felt so abrupt one minute they are fighting a robot and the next it just cuts to the credits and you are left wondering what actually happened to the girl

It feels like the fantasy elements are just an excuse for the weirdness, but the sci-fi twist gives it a different flavor than the usual episodes.

My eyes were glued to the screen during that transformation sequence I usually expect these to be goofy but Madol had some genuine horror elements and that creepy glowing light was great

The way the metal limbs moved was actually pretty fluid you can tell the budget went into those specific animation cuts and the doll actually felt threatening for a second before the adult stuff took over

That doll design creeped me out Madol is such a weird name and the whole sci-fi vibe felt so 80s and grainy and I loved how dark the room looked when things started getting weird

watching the doll come to life was actually kind of scary and the mechanical sound effects made it feel so much more real

I grew up seeing these old OVAs, but the Evil Doll story is just on another level of strange compared to the others. The way the sci-fi elements mixed in with that weird body horror really worked for me, and I didn't think the ending would go that dark. It makes me wonder what the creators were even thinking back then when they made this.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at the midpoint of the 38-episode anthology run, Episode 19 reflects the series' consistent refusal to settle into a single tone — each installment operates as its own contained world. Coming after 'White Shadow' and before 'Etude: Snowy Heartbeat,' this episode has no narrative threads carrying in or out, making it fully accessible as a standalone experience. Its horror-fantasy framing distinguishes it from its immediate neighbors, showcasing the range Cream Lemon deploys across its second half.
