There’s concern and subtle tension in this episode. Mei helps her brother rejoin the soccer game, but the leader’s actions upset her and even make her cry. Tomoya and Youhei have a heated fight in the rain, but afterward, they make up and are okay.

UP: The origin story of Tomoya and Youhei's friendship is BEAUTIFUL. Two lonely idiots finding each other is peak storytelling. DOWN: The soccer club scenes are frustrating to watch. You just want someone to stand up for Youhei sooner. ⚽

The tension between Tomoya and Sunohara is actually pretty heavy. The animation during the fight is surprisingly mid for a slice-of-life show. Overall a great payoff for the build-up we have seen so far.
