i am so sorry but i just honestly hate kids so much. watching her cry actually had me laughing tbh. the absolute best part of the episode was definitely watching taichi and arata send text messages to each other tho you can totally smell the bromance between them.

matching a high school competitor against a grade schooler introduces a unique psychological barrier. the severe pressure of avoiding the sheer humiliation of losing to a child often forces older players into making irrational tactical errors during critical moments of the match.

Going up against a literal grade schooler in a serious tournament is crazy dawg. The kid didnt even do anything wrong but if i had to play against her and actually ended up losing i would genuinely just crash out completely. That level of embarrassment is way too high.

Chihaya’s effort in studying finally pays off. She gets back to focusing on karuta, and her opponent might look small but is super strong. The match kinda makes her reflect and grow. The story is fun and the animation really supports it well.

I loved the new strategy of Chihaya in karuta. She knows how to improve herself and none stop practicing.

We're finally at the Eastern Qualifier! Of course, I expected nothing less from Chihaya, but her opponent held up to her reasonably well. It's cute how Taichi is updating Arata, knowing their past. The continuous character development is very awe-inducing.

For some reason, I enjoy Sudo's character that seemed to inject humor whenever he's on screen. Chihaya also seemed to learn something from her first round this tournament, which made me want to support her even more. There's also a rivalry that brewing between Arata and Taichi.

EPISODE CONTEXT

After episode 20 shifted focus to Taichi's Class A tournament arc, this episode pivots back to Chihaya and her pursuit of the Queen title, marking the start of the Eastern Queen qualifiers stretch that dominates the final quarter of the season. Sitting at episode 21 of 25, this is deep into endgame territory where individual character arcs crystallize into defining tournament moments. The stakes established here carry directly into the remaining episodes as Chihaya's progression through the qualifier bracket sets up the climactic challenges ahead.
