Madhouse really went all out on the visuals. The way they animate feels heavy and incredibly satisfying. I never thought I’d be this hyped about competitive poetry. It’s pure vibes and peak storytelling.

A story of three characters, with Arata and Taichi introduced through their interaction with Chihaya. I do like Chihaya's character, as I enjoy protagonists like her. The subtle characteristic from Arata and Taichi was great. And the animation is stellar, expected from Madhouse.

Gosh, this anime is so beautiful. As expected from a shoujo anime, everything is at 100% brightness mode, it's intense. The OP song is really catchy. I like how Chihaya is dense, but not in a stupid way, but in a way where she blurts her thoughts out loud. Chihaya best girl <3

Episode Context

As the series premiere of a 25-episode season, this episode exists entirely to establish the world, characters, and emotional stakes that will carry the entire run. It introduces Chihaya's ambition to form a karuta club at Mizusawa High and plants the seeds of the three-way dynamic between Chihaya, Taichi, and Arata.
