Working a dead-end desk job at a shipbuilding company, Stephan is a regular office worker going through the motions, living in a future where humans and mermaids have learned to share the world. His life is about as exciting as you'd expect — until a mermaid princess named Chao shows up and straight-up proposes to him. No buildup, no courtship, just "marry me" out of nowhere. And somehow, he ends up living with her. What follows is this really charming movie about two people from completely different worlds — literally land and sea — trying to figure out what love even looks like when your cultures have almost nothing in common.
