This episode broke my brain. Denji fighting for a girl who doesn't even care about him while I'm yelling "don't do it" at the screen. The Bat Devil design is disgusting in the best way. MAPPA absolutely went off with the animation here. Can't wait to see what's next.

Power literally knocks him out and sells him to a devil and he still goes to save her. I would have let her die honestly. But I think that's exactly what makes Denji interesting, he's not smart about it, he just does it anyway.

Power entered the chat and immediately committed fraud her entire "rescue my cat" pitch is pure chaotic gremlin energy and Denji FELL FOR IT. But honestly? Can't even be mad. The Bat Devil design is nightmare fuel and that's a compliment a must watch! 😭

Denji’s human will is a total W, his drive to protect proves he’s not just a monster. Power’s bond with her cat adds a great layer of empathy data to her chaotic persona. Amazing storyboard and the ED visuals are a high-fidelity production flex. Peak vibes.

The dynamic between Power and Denji is explored as they try to work together to defeat a devil. Power’s motivations as a character are well-presented and makes the viewer sympathize with her despite her rough personality. Makima's explanation about the nature of devils is cool.

I actually felt so bad for Power when the Bat Devil swallowed Meowy and she just gave up. That backstory with the cat made her betrayal make sense and I love how crazy she is

Power really just bonked him on the head and tried to feed him to a giant bat for her cat. That is some wild commitment to a pet and Denji is still just trying to touch some boobs

When Power was being such a pain, I honestly wrote her off as just another awful devil, but then seeing her alone, tenderly holding that kitten in the woods? It caught me so off guard, making me wonder if there's actually a tiny soft spot hiding under all that attitude.

Power lying about everything and blaming Denji while Makima just stares them down was so funny and I love their dynamic already

The way Denji just knows exactly how Power feels because of his time with Pochita shows he has a big heart even if he is a pervert

Makima explaining how the fear of a name makes a devil stronger is such a cool concept for this world and it explains why everyone is so scared of Denji

Maximum the Hormone for the ending song is such a perfect choice for this show and the visuals were tripping me out

Power’s flashback with her little cat was genuinely heartbreaking, and it made me feel a weird empathy for her ruthless betrayal of Denji right after. I guess I can understand why she'd go to such extremes for something she cares about, even if it meant sacrificing him.

I was not ready for the emotional damage of that cat backstory, and then seeing Power get swallowed like that really sucked. Denji is such a weird guy because his motivation is so simple and dumb but he still understands her pain better than anyone. That whole fight in the city looked incredible, and the music for the credits was such a good fit for the chaos

Denji is such a simple guy and his dream of touching breasts being the thing that drives him to fight a giant bat is hilarious but it also makes him feel weirdly relatable in a dumb way and the animation when he finally pulled the cord and started shredding that devil in the middle of the city was absolutely incredible and the blood spray was just visceral

That Maximum the Hormone ending theme is the perfect choice for this show and the visuals during the credits were so trippy and cool after such a bloody fight

EPISODE CONTEXT

Following episode 2's introduction to Public Safety and Denji's new life in Tokyo, this third episode narrows focus onto the Denji-Power partnership and establishes personal stakes that extend beyond just following orders. It's an early-season trust-building episode that directly sets up the events of episode 4, 'Rescue,' where the consequences of this mission come to a head. At the quarter mark of a 12-episode season, Chainsaw Man is still laying foundational character work that will pay off as larger threats emerge.
