Chainsaw Man Episode 2: Arrival in Tokyo

Alone in a car, Denji meets Makima, his new handler, as they drive through a dawning forest. His stomach growls, a raw reminder of his past hunger. Makima, with her unsettling red-ringed eyes, quickly establishes her dominance, telling Denji he is her pet, allowed only 'yes' or 'woof' as responses. He sweats, understanding the beautiful woman before him is deeply dangerous and views him as a tool.

At a roadside stall, Denji marvels at a menu, picking udon and a frankfurter, a luxury he has never known. Makima feeds him noodles, a gesture both intimate and demeaning, calling him 'endearing, just like a real dog.' She notes the human and devil scents on him, aware of Pochita's presence. When she tells Denji she likes men 'like Denji,' his simple heart is overwhelmed, and he finds new purpose in his infatuation.

Walking through the city, Denji replays Makima's words, his face flushed with a silly grin. They arrive at the imposing Public Safety Tokyo Headquarters, a concrete monolith of power. Makima explains the benefits of government work, while Denji fixates on the absurd dream of one day holding her. Inside, he stands awkward and unkempt in an elevator, a stark contrast to the suited officers, feeling the weight of his new, uncertain reality.

Makima introduces Aki Hayakawa, a stern, top-knotted man who becomes Denji's senior. Aki's disdain for Denji is immediate. In a secluded alley, Aki abruptly punches Denji, demanding he quit the job. He calls Denji shallow, condemning his 'half-baked attitude' and contrasting it with the true conviction needed to survive as a Devil Hunter. Denji, desperate to protect his newfound comfort, retaliates with brutal, low kicks, declaring he will fight anyone who threatens his simple life.

Denji and a pained Aki return to Makima's office. Denji fabricates a story about a 'Groin Devil' attacking Aki, who, humiliated, is forced to play along. Makima, amused, then reveals Denji is now permanently assigned to Aki's unit and will live with him. Her smile fades as she clarifies Denji's status as a devil under law, warning that quitting or disobeying means immediate execution. Denji's smugness vanishes, replaced by a grim understanding of his gilded cage.

At Aki's apartment, Denji is overwhelmed by luxuries like a working toilet and hot water, splashing joyfully in the bath. Aki watches, tired and annoyed by Denji's lack of boundaries. Their domestic life is a montage of friction: Denji's chaotic, jam-covered breakfasts contrast with Aki's meticulous coffee brewing. Denji's slobby habits and indifference to discipline push Aki to his limits, highlighting their fundamental incompatibility.

On their first mission, Aki explains fiends to Denji inside a dark house. Denji confronts a bird fiend, but instead of transforming, he uses his axe, explaining he doesn't want to make the kill 'too painful.' Aki, enraged, recounts how a devil murdered his family, vowing eternal vengeance. Denji, bored by Aki's trauma, notices erotic magazines. A new, singular goal crystallizes: to touch a woman's breasts, a declaration that leaves Aki speechless.

Back at headquarters, Denji excitedly shares his new ambition with Makima, who receives the news calmly. She reveals his new, permanent partner: a 'special' individual. The office door bursts open, and a blonde woman with horns, Power, marches in, demanding humans kneel. Makima introduces the Blood Fiend, explaining her intelligence and their new, high-stakes experimental unit. Aki, already dreading the future, sighs deeply.

Denji and Power go on patrol, Power complaining about the lack of devils to kill. She fidgets, restless and 'hungry for blood,' her predatory gaze sweeping the streets. Suddenly, she scents blood and bolts, leaping from a tall building. Denji watches as she lands in an intersection, her eyes wild. She forms a massive red hammer from her blood, smashing the Sea Cucumber Devil into a purple smear, completely obliterating it. Denji arrives to survey the destruction, realizing they've just ruined Aki's assigned target, signaling more trouble to come.
