Curse reveals to Aki the time he has left, and this show how vulnerable he can be and how alone he feels. The introduction of Kishibe God and his will to transfrom Denji and Power into killing machines. This gives this episode a balance between nostalgia and emotion.

Time for a training arc! 👊 Kishibe is an absolute beast for a reason. Denji and Power’s "smart" attempts to beat him are hilarious but show their desperation. The somber atmosphere at the hospital really grounds the stakes. 🏥💪

Kishibe is a beast! He’s the literal definition of "built different," treating Denji and Power like total amateurs. This training is absolute hell, but it’s a necessary W for their growth. The gritty, cynical tone Kishibe brings is a massive directorial flex. Peak mentor energy.

The aftermath of the battle plays up the tragedy and heartbreak experienced by Aki as he comes to terms with the loss of his allies. Meanwhile, Power and Denji’s hilarious antics and entertaining training scenes with their new mentor Kishibe keeps things from getting too heavy.

Kishibe snapping their necks right after meeting them was actually insane and it really shows how different the power levels are now

Denji wondering if he still has a human heart because he didn't cry for Himeno is such a heavy scene to watch. I relate to that feeling of being weirdly okay when things go wrong, and it makes him feel more real. He acts like a total idiot with Power, but those internal monologues about his own apathy are actually so sad

Aki breaking down after reading those letters from Himeno was painful and he only has two years left but still chooses to suffer for revenge and the hospital scene with the silent crying really hit hard

I thought it was just a regular training session and then Kishibe just snapped both their necks right in front of Makima. That old man is genuinely terrifying and he looks so bored while doing it

When Denji stared at his chest, wondering if he still had a human heart after Pochita, my gut twisted for him; it felt like that hospital hallway scene wasn't just about his body, but about losing all those dumb, ordinary dreams he used to chase.

Kishibe is absolutely terrifying for just snapping their necks immediately like it was nothing and his philosophy about the crazy ones surviving is perfect for this show

Denji and Power putting on those glasses to look smart was the funniest thing in the world, but then Kishibe just stabbed Denji in the brain to end the joke

That chilling final shot of cell 108's door, combined with the Future Devil's name, just gnawed at me. I'm so worried about what messed-up price Aki is going to have to pay for that contract; it feels like whatever he sees will be pure dread.

Kishibe is terrifying and he just kills them over and over and over again without even looking up from his drink and it makes you realize how weak Denji actually is right now

Kishibe is a total menace for snapping their necks immediately and his logic about only the insane hunters surviving makes so much sense after seeing what happened to the rest of the division

Denji and Power calling themselves intellectual while wearing glasses just to get instantly bodied by the old man is the funniest thing this show has done in weeks and their teamwork is getting so much better

My soul needed Denji and Power fighting over an apple while Aki is lying in a hospital bed and their chaotic energy is the only thing keeping me going right now

Those letters from Himeno's sister were actually painful to see because Aki is already on borrowed time and now he has to carry all that guilt while going to see the Future Devil

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned as episode 10 of 12, 'Bruised & Battered' functions as a critical emotional decompression following the explosive Kyoto confrontation in episode 9. It processes the fallout and reshapes character dynamics heading into the final stretch. This reflective beat directly feeds into episode 11's 'Mission Start,' where the resolve forged here will be put to immediate use as the season races toward its conclusion.
