CANDY CARIES HAS NO VOTE THIS WEEK
Synopsis
One girl with zero self-control around sweets eats too many and grows a cavity that's alive, calls her 'Mama,' and starts rearranging her teeth like bedroom furniture. That's the premise of Candy Caries, and it's exactly as unhinged as it sounds. Ame is a kid who can't say no to candy, which would normally just mean a rough dentist visit. Instead, she ends up with Caries, a tiny, chaotic cavity creature living rent-free in her mouth, treating her molars like a personal apartment and occasionally hijacking her entire body. Caries has zero boundaries and all the energy of a toddler on a sugar high, while Ame is stuck playing the exhausted parent she never signed up to be. It's a weird little mother-daughter dynamic where the "daughter" is literally a dental disease. The whole thing is done in stop-motion by Tomoki Misato, the director behind Pui Pui Molcar, using this handmade world built from plastic board and acrylic that gives everything a tactile, craft-project feel. If you liked Pui Pui Molcar's offbeat charm or the candy-coated aesthetic of something like Yumeiro Patissiere, this hits a similar sweet spot, but just way more chaotic. Wit Studio is producing, which is a pretty interesting pairing with Misato's style. It's a short-form slapstick comedy that leans fully into the absurd. Low commitment, high weirdness, genuinely creative animation. Pretty easy sell if you're into that kind of thing.

The bacon and fish bone cake had me gagging and cracking up at the same time. That blob mutation at the end was genuinely unsettling though. Stop-motion team really outdid themselves making that thing look both delicious and cursed
The Final Blend sequence is ridiculous in the best way. Five kindergarteners air-combos into a robot with Ame's screaming head on top and it genuinely slaps. The stop-motion on the mouth-filling clone scenes deserves respect too that set work is insane
The stop motion style in this show is so unique and seeing Caries dive into Ame with a miner hat and a fishbone sword was peak chaos
I am convinced Harold got cooked and served at that table. Seeing a fish get a full body massage right before being plated was pure comedy
Caries getting targeted by her own security AI as a harmful substance made me laugh so hard
Caries changing into fancy ball gowns inside the mouth while reporters storm the house was hilarious. I lost it when she started doing treadmill workouts for her fan meeting.
Harold showing up with three more babies at the end was so mean and Caries looking totally dead inside made the whole thing worth watching
The sentai transformation with the heart horns and glasses was the highlight because seeing them fight dental decay with giant toothbrushes is the kind of chaos that makes the dental theme actually fun
I still can't get over the jump scare with that girl trapped in the gum and she just turned into a black monster with green eyes
Seeing Caries finally get that bead bow made the whole episode because she looked so happy wearing it and it really showed how much she cares about her mama Ame
That tooth fairy Santa having no beard was such a weird look until Ame fixed it with paper and the whole scene in the mouth looked so cozy with the felt textures
I felt for Ame when he started crying over his cavity not getting a gift and the way he made that paper beard for the tooth fairy Santa was so sweet
ame literally tried to min-max the tooth fairy with actual curses and it worked so well her greed is on another level this week
I felt so bad for Amu when she was holding her cheek at the start but then Caries tried to sleep on those silver braces and it looked like a total nightmare
I could not stop laughing when Caries pulled out the power drill to fix Ame for the auction because her face was so focused and she really thought she was doing something special
That moment Ame gets tortured by his own tooth devil just to get a mole toy was the funniest thing this week and the mom finally cracking under the pressure of that public scream felt way too real
The way the mice were using those teeth to build a whole house was actually kind of cool until you realize what happens to them at the very end
I thought the mouse heist was hilarious but that ending with the cats felt so dark for a kids show about cavities and candy
testt
Everything went crazy when this show turned a bag of sugar into a high stakes police shootout and Ame trying to whistle past that giant cop while hiding the goods had me dying
