Ame Loses a Tooth
Ame cries out, a gap where a tooth should be, clutching the small white thing in his hand. His worry is plain, though his mother's words offer a slim hope: a bigger, better tooth will grow. Caries, initially engrossed in a melodramatic romance, shifts her focus, her irritation giving way to a curious glint as she surveys the scene. This mundane moment sets the stage for a grand, misguided intervention.
Caries' Grand Design
The romantic drama on her rocket television ignites a dangerous ambition in Caries. She retreats, not to comfort Ame, but to craft a 'better' solution. With a watering can, then glowing green and yellow chemicals marked with biohazard symbols, she begins her manic work. "Grow big and beautiful!" she cackles, her eyes wide with a disturbing, creative fervor, bent on outdoing nature itself.
The Tooth's Revenge
Caries returns to her drama, but her chemicals work with alarming speed and scale. A colossal, translucent white mass erupts from the floor, shaking their entire world. The growth consumes furniture, the rocket television, and bursts through the ceiling. Amidst the terrifying expansion, Ame is caught, helplessly encased in the rapidly hardening material.
Trapped in the Tower
The once small tooth becomes a monstrous, towering structure, dominating the landscape. Caries stands atop it, gazing down at Ame, who is visible and struggling beneath the translucent surface. She shouts promises of rescue, summoning a pickaxe to break through. Her desperate swings prove futile, however, and with a sharp, final sound, the pickaxe snaps, leaving her helpless.
The Power of Tears
On her knees, defeated, Caries remembers Ame's simple desire to play. Guilt washes over her, a tide of regret for her selfish obsession. Tears well in her eyes, falling onto the enormous tooth, and to her astonishment, they melt the hardened material. Her own 'caries' nature, the very thing she perhaps tried to suppress or redirect, becomes the unexpected key to salvation.
Ame's Rescue
The monstrous tooth dissolves into a glowing puddle, freeing Ame at last. He is dazed but unharmed, as Caries rushes forward, pulling him into a tight, sobbing embrace. Her previous fixation on perfection vanishes completely, replaced by overwhelming relief for his safety. Ame, perhaps still confused, gently pats her back, a silent forgiveness.
A New Foundation
The melted mass transforms, settling into a new, heart-topped house, a symbol of their changed relationship. Caries, holding her tablet, invites Ame to watch drama with her, but with a new, playful rule: "no more sad ones!" They sit together, a quiet tableau under the moon, having found a truer, simpler understanding.
