Candy Caries Episode 1: Episode 1

Ame, a young girl, sits petrified in a dentist's chair, the storm outside reflecting her inner turmoil. The imposing Dentist, a figure straight from a horror film, looms over her, brandishing a drill. He grinds it into a puppet, demonstrating a brutal 'treatment,' then tosses it onto a pile of other mangled toys. Ame watches, her bubblegum bubble popping, fear plain on her face. This is not a place of healing, but a chamber of dread.

The Dentist moves in, ignoring Ame's whimpers. He forces her mouth open with a metal tool, the drill held menacingly close. Ame struggles against the restraints, her eyes filling with tears. The Dentist peers into her mouth, a predatory gaze, searching for the hidden 'caries.' He sees her, but he does not see her.

Instead of decay, the Dentist discovers a miniature, fortified door where a tooth should be. His morbid curiosity takes over, and he meticulously unlocks each chain and bolt. Behind the final lock, he finds a pink, cozy bedroom, complete with posters and furniture, all tucked away inside Ame's mouth. He exclaims his disbelief, the scale shift highlighting the scene's bizarre, impossible reality.

A red boxing glove shoots out, striking the Dentist squarely in the face. Ame's face glows purple, her body shifting as a translucent arm emerges from her mouth. Then Caries, a small, purple-skinned girl with horns, fully manifests, landing a powerful kick. She sends the Dentist flying through the wall, screaming about being defeated by a tooth cavity as he disappears into the rainy night.

Caries turns to Ame, pulling her into a tight, joyful hug and calling her 'Mama.' Ame insists she is not her mother, confused and overwhelmed by this unexpected development. Caries disregards the protest, explaining that Ame provides her home and sweet treats. She then begins tidying her miniature room inside Ame's mouth, attempting to shove the boxing glove back into a drawer. Ame watches, resigned, the reality of her new, painful symbiosis settling in.

The episode concludes with Ame and Caries dancing and floating against a light green background, surrounded by dental iconography. Caries remains affectionate, her playful energy a constant presence. Ame, however, keeps her distance, wary and reactive to her new inhabitant. Their interaction, though lighthearted in presentation, underscores the ongoing, uneasy partnership between the girl and her literal living cavity.
