This episode really leans into Atsushi’s inner struggle and the pressure building around him. The Agency shows strong teamwork energy, and the tension keeps rising without feeling messy.

Of course, the stakes weren't going to be that high if we're just starting the episodes. You can't really feel the tension of the "great threat" if you know these characters have to stay alive for a few more episodes. Anyway, it's not a bad episode, just a little predictable. Quite emotional, too. I'm still getting used to the ridiculous humor in tense moments; that's the charm of this anime.

Dazai is really goofy and quirky. I remember that this episode used to be one of my favorite episodes. The action scenes were mixed with tension and comedy making it feel a little bit lighter. There’s also some emotional scenes but it’s mostly funny. The background music also makes it more dramatic adding more twist to the tension. And there’s also new characters!!!

A new case brings the Agency face to-face with a mysterious opponent whose ability manipulates fate itself. As Kunikida carefully analyzes the situation with his notebook, Atsushi watches the battle unfold and begins to understand how unpredictable ability users can be.

This episode tells the life story of the fatalist. It is not an action-heavy episode and quite monoton, but it gives us a deeper understanding of his character, his mindset, and the experiences that shaped him.

Just mid episode. Nothing of importance, a few flashbacks of Atsushi's past but nevertheless a good animation and dialogue

The flashbacks are starting to get annoying. This episode felt like such a troll.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 4 lands in the immediate aftermath of the Yokohama Gangster Paradise confrontation with the Port Mafia, using the breathing room to deepen Atsushi's internal conflict and solidify his ties to the agency. It functions as a critical bridge episode—one-third into the season—transitioning from the initial faction clash toward the investigative territory of 'Murder on D Street.' The personal stakes established here pay forward into the back half of the season as both Atsushi's resolve and the Mafia threat continue to escalate.
