The story shifts to the present as a chilling new plot begins unfolding. A mysterious murder scheme threatens Yokohama, and the Agency soon finds itself entangled in a complex conspiracy where every move seems carefully calculated.

Episode Context

After episodes 1-3 established the Armed Detective Agency's formation and backstory, episode 4 marks a clear pivot into a new narrative arc built around an original mystery case. This is the first half of a two-part storyline that continues directly into episode 5, 'A Perfect Murder and Murderer (Part 2),' meaning resolution is deliberately withheld here. It positions Ranpo as the central figure moving forward and introduces a new antagonist, signaling the season's shift from foundational worldbuilding to active, case-driven storytelling.
