Best episode of The Conflict, no debate. The battle between *beep* (no spoilers hehe) is peak! Two people who meant everything, now enemies. No cuts, no distractions, just them and their past. It hits hard even if you knew it was coming. This is why TYBW exists. OwO <3

A steady episode that continues to build momentum. It doesn’t try to do too much, but it keeps the story moving in a focused and consistent way.

I love how this episode revealed Bazz-B and Jugram Haschwalth's past before they became proper Quincies. It's unfortunate how their relationship changed ever since they both met Yhwach. The backgrounds in this episode looked absolutely beautiful.

Episode Context

Coming off Episode 11's escalating three-way clash between Shunsui Kyoraku, Nanao Ise, and Lille Barro, Episode 12 deliberately shifts perspective away from the Soul Reaper side of the war entirely. This Quincy-centric pivot gives the season's broader conflict an unexpected emotional dimension before the final two episodes move toward conclusion. Positioned second-to-last in the arc's closing stretch, 'Friend' functions as the season's emotional reckoning point, a contained, personal chapter that recontextualizes the larger war through the lens of one fractured relationship.
