Episode Context

Episode 4 trades the horror-tinged mononoke encounters of the early episodes for something closer to a training-match atmosphere. The focus lands squarely on Jirou and fellow recruit Reiji Kirihara, whose clashing hot-blooded personalities fuel a tense but entertaining rivalry that keeps the pacing quick and the energy competitive. It is a character-driven chapter, balancing banter and youthful bravado against a genuine expansion of the Bureau of Espionage's world, introducing new faces, gear, and the weight of the organization's responsibilities. Rago remains a compelling presence, with the episode layering quiet intrigue around his murky history and the danger he carries. Fans who enjoy rivalries with bite alongside world-building exposition will find this a satisfying, forward-moving entry.
