This episode provides a monumental shift by revealing Asta’s Black Form; pushed to his limits by Ladros, he taps into his subconscious and awakens his anti-magic energy. There is an immense show of character development from Asta, and the anime does justice to the battle scene. Asta’s refusal to let the darkness consume him teaches us a profound lesson: that sometimes growth requires acknowledging and embracing our darkest insecurities by not letting them determine who we are and turn them into our ultimate weapons.

After the WItch Queen commented on Asta's power being absolute, I realized just how OP he is. The narrative is always so inconsistent when it comes to showcasing his anti-magic. It should be the most powerful force when it comes to fighting other mages, but isn't.

SUPERB battle and conclusion with Laundry guy, the effects around Asta's sword and the sketch book vibe contributed to how unpredictable his new powers are without the dampener thingies. It was super satisfying too, after all the opponent dude did.

Amazing animation during Asta's "awakening" scene. The sudden budget increase felt a little jarring, but certainly lived up to expectations when portraying such a major plot point! Super cool visually and conceptually; It always hits whenever the narrator comments on the 5 leaf clover.

Asta choosing to keep his head and tell Ladros to apologize while that massive black power was surging through him was my favorite moment of the battle

Ladros got absolutely humbled by that Black Meteorite move and it was satisfying to see him realize he could never absorb enough magic to stop Asta in that demonic state

Whoa, that art style for Asta's big fight totally caught me off guard! It looked like a crazy, messy painting, but somehow, I just *got* how chaotic and intense Asta was feeling in his new form. Honestly, it was a wild choice that actually paid off in showing his raw power.

Using that specific title was a smart move because Asta not having magic is exactly what let him survive that demon power and turn into something else entirely during the battle

I have mixed feelings about how the animation looked during the main clash, because part of it was stunning and the other part looked a bit unfinished, but the story beats were so strong that I barely cared. The Witch Queen controlling Asta with blood magic is a massive twist, and seeing him walk toward Vanessa with that sword was terrifying.

Asta grew a single black wing and just flew across the screen like a complete monster and that is easily one of the most memorable visuals in the show

Black Meteorite is such a cool name for an attack and the way Asta just zoomed through the air as a mass of black energy was the highlight of the week

Everyone got played by the Witch Queen but seeing her use Asta like a puppet right after he won against Ladros was such a low blow and now he has to turn on his friends

My brain still hurts from that animation and I don't mean that in a bad way because those blurry shapes made the fight feel so violent and crazy Asta becoming a literal wing of darkness was so cool

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at the climax of the Witches' Forest Arc, Episode 63 follows the team-building momentum of 'Those Who Boost Each Other Up' and converts it into a pivotal turning point for Asta's character trajectory. This is the payoff episode the arc has been building toward, with consequences that ripple forward into the remaining stretch of the series. At episode 63 of 170, this marks a significant milestone in Black Clover's long-form storytelling, establishing new baselines for Asta's capabilities heading into future arcs.
