Intense confrontations and new battlefields one after another. This episode felt a little stagnant, but established the new settings and character progressions well enough. It feels like the series is gearing up for bigger points in the plot.

It is a little hard to keep up with and understand all the battles the "Grim Reapers" are heading into, but it seems as if they are all progressing to be socially and politically recognized by others. The battles stay clean and concise, but lack dynamic changes in visuals.

This episode picks up after a 3 year time-skip! Relationships haven't shifted all that much, so it wasn't that confusing. Casca and Guts finally develop a friendship not rooted in hatred for each other's differences, and it feels like a turn in the right direction.

Griffith’s brilliance as a strategist shines here. Guts earning promotion proves how quickly he’s becoming essential to the Hawks.

UP: Judeau is INTRODUCED and he's immediately LIKABLE. The contrast between Guts' brute force and Casca's tactical fighting is cool. DOWN: The possessed knights feel generic. Some of the refugee drama drags. But character dynamics save it. 🏹

As guts stayed long in the group he look insanely matured. Mommy vibes of Casca to Guts is funny to me. when griffith got knighted background music is a Banger it got stuck on my brain. it seems a large scale battle is next

Solid character work. You start to see the cracks in the Hawks' hierarchy.

Ambition sharpens dangerously. Power is gained, but consequences quietly line up in the background. You can feel the balance starting to tilt.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 5 builds directly on the groundwork laid in 'The Hand of God,' where Guts' backstory and induction into the Band of the Falcon established his place in Griffith's world — now the focus shifts to the consequences of that integration and the group's growing prominence. The internal tensions between Guts and Casca deepen here, adding crucial emotional layers that will carry through the season. Crucially, this episode serves as the calm before a major tonal shift, as Episode 6's 'Zodd the Immortal' promises to introduce supernatural horror elements that will redefine the series' trajectory.
