“Indies” captures BECK at its most authentic, no glamor, just the pure grind. From rehearsals to moving throug the underground scene, you feel the weight of chasing music without shortcuts. Ray’s presence adds heart, reminding us that passion alone isn’t enough, you have to endure

Her blond friend is such a jerk! She really needs better taste in company. Why do these people keep picking on our guy? Ugh Koyuki, please grow a spine bro, just once. And another love triangle brewing on the horizon? Beck please no. Frustrating episode.

This was a good episode. Koyuki gets a chance to make his dream purchase and each band is struggling to get going with their own set of problems. But there might be a lucky break! Some scenes with Maho are a little frustrating, particularly in this episode.

There really is friction in the professional world of the music industry. The sound design in the recording studio was really crisp, it captures them getting the track right. The animation during their practice was sharp, and the pacing felt energetic as the group was frantic.

That song that Beck played was a lot better than their usual fare. Fingers crossed there's no more love triangles but I fear it's an inevitability. I'm interested in Maho, I wish they'd give her more screentime. Oh well. The pacing was alright this episode, not bad at all.

Koyuki's kissed a pretty girl and been pulled on stage by a rock star to sing so it's pretty pathetic how much of a wimp he is in this episode. Haha, but the episode was a nice silence to all that had been going on since.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at the series midpoint, 'Indies' represents a critical transition — the band has solidified its identity through earlier formation arcs and local performances, and now faces the question of whether they can break beyond that ceiling. This episode bridges the scrappy early days with the higher-stakes industry challenges that define Beck's back half, setting the foundation for opportunities and setbacks that will test every member's commitment going forward.
