Episode Context

Following Episode 5's exploration of Ymir's hidden nature and motivations, "Warrior" escalates the season's central theme of hidden identities to a breaking point, placing Reiner and Bertholdt under an unforgiving spotlight. As the midpoint of a tight 12-episode season, this episode functions as a narrative hinge, everything before it was buildup, and everything after, beginning with Episode 7's "Close Combat," deals with the fallout. It is the single most consequential turning point in Season 2.
