Episode Context

Coming directly off the desperate siege at Utgard Castle in Episode 4, this installment pivots from immediate danger to the deeper mysteries lurking beneath the surface, specifically the hidden histories of Christa and Ymir. Positioned at the season's near-midpoint (5 of 12), it functions as a critical bridge episode, converting the raw tension of the castle arc into character revelations that will fuel the back half of the season. The identity themes introduced here lay essential groundwork for the escalating twists and shifting allegiances ahead.
