📖 SYNOPSIS

A broke, undersized college kid with a passion for motorcycles and absolutely zero luck with women, Keiichi Morisato is the last person you'd expect a goddess to move in with. One night he dials a wrong number and reaches the Goddess Help Hotline — yes, that's a thing — and suddenly a beautiful goddess named Belldandy materializes in his dorm room mirror. She tells him he gets one wish. Flustered and not really believing any of this, he half-jokingly wishes for her to stay with him forever. The system accepts it. Now he's got a literal goddess living with him, which immediately gets him kicked out of his all-male dorm, and the two end up settling into an old Buddhist temple together. From there, it's a slow-burn romance wrapped in Norse mythology-inspired supernatural comedy, where the biggest tension often comes from Keiichi being too awkward to hold Belldandy's hand rather than any world-ending threat. The 24-episode TV series from AIC has this warm, easygoing rhythm to it — comedic without being frantic, romantic without being melodramatic. The soundtrack genuinely carries a lot of the atmosphere, and the character designs still hold up nicely. If you liked the harem-adjacent sweetness of Tenchi Muyo but wanted something more focused on a single pairing, or if Chobits hit the right notes for you with its gentle boy-meets-supernatural-girl energy, this one fits right in that lane. It's comfort food anime, best watched when you want something that just feels kind.

Overall Ranking

✨ MUST WATCH IF...

You enjoy slow-burn romance where the leads are genuinely sweet and wholesome together
Belldandy's sisters Urd and Skuld stealing scenes with chaos and comedy sounds fun to you
A relaxed slice-of-life pace with supernatural flavor across 24 episodes is your comfort zone
You're okay with a kind but passive male lead — Keiichi's charm is his earnest sincerity

❌ SKIP IF...

You want real romantic progression — Keiichi and Belldandy's relationship barely moves across 24 episodes
Episodic plotlines that reset each week frustrate you — there's little overarching narrative here
Non-stop action or dramatic stakes are what you're after — AIC kept this very low-key
