📖 SYNOPSIS

A luckless college student named Keiichi Morisato accidentally dials a cosmic hotline while trying to order takeout. Instead of pizza, a goddess named Belldandy appears out of his mirror and offers him one wish. Being a lonely, well-meaning guy, he blurts out that he wants her to stay with him forever — and the universe takes that literally. They get booted from his male-only dorm and end up living together in an old Buddhist temple, which sounds peaceful until Belldandy's sisters show up: Urd, who treats Keiichi's love life like her personal science experiment, and Skuld, a young genius who wants him gone. This 5-episode OVA from 1993 keeps things simple and warm. It's less about big supernatural battles and more about a genuinely sweet guy and a literal goddess figuring out domestic life together. The hand-drawn animation still holds up — there's a softness to the art that gives the whole thing a cozy, almost painterly quality, and Shirō Hamaguchi's soundtrack really leans into that gentle tone. If you liked the harem-with-heart vibe of Tenchi Muyo or the quiet, everyday-divine feeling of Kamichu, this is kind of where a lot of that started. It's short, it's pleasant, and Keiichi and Belldandy's relationship is the kind of thing that just makes you feel good without trying too hard. A nice palate cleanser when you need one.

❌ SKIP IF...

Keiichi and Belldandy's romance barely advances across all five episodes — that'll frustrate you
You want action or high stakes — this is purely character interactions and lighthearted comedy
