📖 SYNOPSIS
Li Luo is the young master of one of the most powerful families on the Shenzhou Continent, which would be great if his family hadn't completely fallen apart. Both his parents vanished under mysterious circumstances, the Luolan Mansion is in decline, and to top it off, he was born with an "empty phase" — meaning his body literally has no elemental affinity in a world where cultivation is everything. He's got three phase palaces, which should make him a prodigy, but they're all empty. Meanwhile, his childhood fiancée Jiang Qing'e is walking around with a ninth-grade light phase, basically a generational genius, and the gap between them is painfully obvious.
This ONA from CG Year is adapted from a web novel, and what makes it click is the resonance-based power system. It's not just "punch harder" — there's actual depth to how phases and cultivation interact, which gives the fights real stakes and strategy. The animation does a solid job bringing the fantasy world to life, and the soundtrack hits when it needs to.
The core tension is compelling: a guy who should be powerful but can't access any of it, trying to claw his way back while protecting what's left of his family's name. If you liked the cultivation grind in Douluo Dalu or the world-building in Wan Yu Zhi Wang, this scratches a similar itch. Fans of Mo Dao Zu Shi who want something more action-focused might find a lot to like here too.
