86 Eighty-Six Part 2
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Against all odds, Shin Nouzen and his squad survived what was meant to be a suicide mission. Now, in Part 2 of this 12-episode TV series, they're living in the Federal Republic of Giad, given citizenship, freedom, and a chance at a normal life. The problem is, none of them know how to stop fighting. They've been soldiers since childhood, treated as subhuman by the Republic of San Magnolia, and peace feels more foreign than any battlefield. So they volunteer for combat again, joining the Federacy's Nordlicht Squadron. Meanwhile, back in San Magnolia, Lena Milizé keeps commanding new squads of Eighty-Six soldiers, knowing the system that uses them is rotten but refusing to look away. The emotional core here is what makes this hit different: it's less about the mecha battles (though A-1 Pictures makes those look incredible) and more about kids who've internalized trauma so deeply they can't imagine a life without war. Hiroyuki Sawano's soundtrack does the heavy lifting in the quieter scenes, and there are a lot of those. If you liked the way Iron-Blooded Orphans handled child soldiers, or if Code Geass hooked you with its political layering, this covers similar ground but with a more grounded, melancholic tone. Fans of Aldnoah.Zero's military sci-fi setup will find familiar territory too, just with stronger character writing. It's a slow burn in places, but the payoff is worth sitting with.

Very good storyline and characterisation. Everyone should watch this! If only there’s a season 3🥲

It started off strong for a second cour and ended strong too. The introduction of new characters and how much they differ from Shin's squadron was also showcased. But what made me love this episode was Lena's character growth and new purpose. Another was that when the squadron of Shin was being toured around the new setting, it made me somehow sad because they looked somehow amazed and even curious about things that they have never seen before. It showed how much they had missed out on life.
Visually stunning and deeply emotional. This episode delivers what many viewers were hoping to see, making the payoff feel truly rewarding. Even with an open ending, it provides a satisfying sense of closure for the characters after everything they endured.
What a perfect and satisfying way to conclude the story arc. This episode is divided into 3 parts in which the first 2 parts are the POV of each Shin and Lena, leading to the third part, which I would say is the climax of the whole season.
A perfect ending for Part 2 of the series. No fight or battle scene, wholesome dialogue and story. Good episode
Good ending for fight episode. Rollercoaster feeling also and finally the complete character development for the main character. A great way to end a season.
Good fighting episode. This episode didn't gave us a breath from the start until the end of episode. Great animation and intensity. Must a watch episode.
Back to another dialogue episode. No fight scene but wholesome story and dialogue that enrich the relationship between team 86. Skippable if you're looking for fight.
Good fight episode. The battle and intensity are good enough to make me satisfied, good pacing and animation. Worth to watch
Another good episode, "calm before the storm" is a perfect description for this episode. Start with a mostly dialogue until middle, and keep going intense with a good cliffhanger in the end. Worth to watch.
Good episode. Intense opening and followed by an heavy dialogue that decide the future of the 86 teams. Worth to watch but maybe for the "combat-animation" fans will be a little bit sleepy watching this episode.
Finally, an epic-battle scene with a huge scale. A worth-to-watch episode for both "Lore-enjoyer" and "battle-animation seeker". The pacing in this episode seems fine, not too fast and not too slow. Good episode
Another dialogue and lore drop episode. No action or fight in this episode so I guess if you looking for "epic animation fight scene", this episode is easy skip. But if you really care about lore and following this anime since part 1, It's unskippable.
Good episode. Still giving small amount of action but show us how the main character capability. Worth to watch
A really satisfying ending. It doesn’t rush things and gives the characters space to breathe. Feels earned.
This episode is just nonstop intensity. The animation and sound design go crazy, and emotionally it hits hard too.
Everything starts coming together. The stakes feel real and the tension doesn’t let up.
