This episode starts pretty good, but the middle gets messy because the story keeps shifting around. Still, I wouldn’t skip it, because there’s an important clue about Haruto here. Even if it feels confusing at times, that one detail makes the episode worth watching.
This heavy plot tackles existential dread and online anonymity, where the witch has fragmented her soul into multiple internet personas. Character designs constantly glitch and morph, shifting between different internet avatars to show her lack of a true self. Visuals are cluttered with floating chat logs, pop-up windows, and corrupted digital textures. Specific Moment: The dramatic scene where all her online avatars start speaking in unison, creating a terrifying wall of overlapping digital voices.
For me, this was one of the standout episode. Even though the animation was inconsistent at times and the story jumped around quite a bit, those choices actually added to the experience rather than taking away from it. The dream world setting was used really well here.
