Ooh, things are getting more interesting. This episode focused on the aftermath of the King’s birth. The hierarchy fell apart after that, and the Chimera Ants becoming unpredictable was the turning point of this episode and the story itself.

I couldn’t really sympathize with the Queen and Colt, lol. That doesn’t really erase what they did. Still, I liked this episode. The animation was clean, and the emotional scene was shown really well. That ending also made things more intriguing and unsettling.

Why am I even trying to understand the Queen? 🫣 She’s such a complex character, along with Colt, though I understand him more. I really liked this episode—it was thought-provoking and really challenged my moral compass.

Episode Context

Hunter x Hunter slows down and turns inward here, delivering one of the Chimera Ant arc's most emotionally dense episodes. The title itself signals the weight of what's unfolding, promises made under duress, wishes born from impossible circumstances. Expect a somber, contemplative atmosphere where the action takes a backseat to character psychology and moral complexity. Themes of loyalty, identity, and sacrifice dominate as key figures grapple with decisions that will ripple through the rest of the arc. Madhouse's direction leans into stillness and tension rather than spectacle, trusting the audience to sit with difficult emotions. This is the kind of episode that recontextualizes everything around it. If you've been invested in the arc's deeper questions about what separates human from monster, this episode rewards that investment substantially.
