One Piece Review: How Egghead Rewrote the World's Entire History
Before the Egghead arc, most of us thought the One Piece world just didn't have much land and was surrounded by ocean, and we truly believed what we were seeing was the "true" world. But Dr. Vegapunk blew our minds with his broadcast when he told us that what we are seeing isn't the real world at all, but the result of a Great War from the past.

Dr. Vegapunk's Broadcast and Egghead: The Best Foreshadowing for the Elbaf Arc
Now that the Elbaf Arc is airing, Dr. Vegapunk's broadcast has undeniably proven to be the best foreshadowing for it, as everything he claimed has been surprisingly accurate. Up until Episode 1170, we've come to realize that massive ancient wars really did take place in the past, and that someone operating entirely from the shadows is controlling the world.
Dr. Vegapunk also mentioned one of the most important figures in One Piece history during his broadcast: Joy Boy, the First Pirate. I believe most people in the One Piece world couldn't bring themselves to believe it, but as it turns out, he was right once again. From what we've seen on Elbaf, a man named Joy Boy truly did exist in the past, and his fighting style was surprisingly similar to what we're so familiar with, Luffy's Gear 5.
Dr. Vegapunk had really done a great job on foreshadowing everyone, including us that the current world we are quite familiar with is not true, and the true world is coming for us. For the people in One Piece, they may still need sometime to completely figure out what is happening, but especially for us, witnessed what Franky had seen in Elbaf, we can slowly put all the pieces together, and figure out the truth, even without reading the original manga.
I truly think Dr. Vegapunk's broadcast was amazing, it completely opened up a whole new world for us. At the same time, I can't help but feel a bit frustrated because he could have told us everything during the broadcast! Just like the citizens in the One Piece world, I am desperately waiting for the whole truth, and I'm beyond thrilled to uncover the rest of the secrets!

After the Egghead Arc: The Arc That Will Answer Our Questions
Following the Egghead Arc, we've finally entered the story arc that will answer so many of our biggest questions: the Elbaf Arc. Even though we had to wait three months after Egghead wrapped up in the anime, watching it now makes it clear that it was completely worth the wait. The animation for Elbaf is fantastic, and it is already delivering so many long-awaited answers.
As a One Piece fan, I've read all of the manga and keep up with the latest anime episodes, but in this post, I won't be sharing any manga spoilers, I'm strictly focusing on the anime! The Elbaf Arc has already delivered so much massive lore, from the mysterious Knights of God and the eerie Abyss portal to even more legendary tales of Sun God Nika. Every single one of these reveals is going to be crucial for Luffy's journey ahead.
It's definitely amazing to watch all this information get revealed, but it's all built on the foundation set by the Egghead Arc. Without Egghead, we wouldn't truly understand the mysteries of Elbaf, nor would we grasp just how important Joy Boy is to the history of the world and the One Piece. Joy Boy isn't just some nobody, he's someone who was capable of changing the entire world.
Before the Egghead Arc, Joy Boy felt almost like a footnote in history to us, and even to the Straw Hat Pirates, because nobody ever spoke about what he had done. But after the broadcast, where Dr. Vegapunk shared the legendary story of Joy Boy alongside the epic stand of the Iron Giant, Emet, we were finally able to connect with Joy Boy. His story finally started to feel real.

The Remaining Mysteries of the Egghead Arc: What's Next for Elbaf
The Elbaf Arc in the manga hasn't actually ended yet, which means there are still plenty of mysteries waiting for us. Even though Egghead gave us an unbelievable amount of lore, it still left several major questions unanswered. Since I won't be sharing any manga spoilers in this post, the key mysteries from Egghead I want to focus on here are the Great War and the mysterious Abyss.
Although Dr. Vegapunk mentioned Joy Boy and the Great War, he unfortunately didn't know all that much about the battle itself. Since Vegapunk conducted his research entirely on his own without outside help, there was naturally a limit to what he could uncover. In Elbaf, however, there is actually someone who knows the true story behind Joy Boy and the Great War.
The weird old man who holds the key to Loki's chains, Scopper Gaban, knows everything and is currently staying in Elbaf. As the left-hand man of the Pirate King, Gaban is a legendary figure in One Piece and one of the few who actually traveled to Laugh Tale. Someone like him knows the entire truth, and since he seems to like Luffy, I think he'll definitely share some major secrets with him in the upcoming episodes!

In the Egghead Arc, we learned about that mysterious portal that can summon people across long distances. It's undeniably powerful, the Gorosei were able to travel from Mary Geoise to Egghead in an instant. On top of that, even when they got hit in battle, their real bodies didn't take any actual damage. Saint Jaygarcia Saturn only died because of Imu; otherwise, none of the other Gorosei suffered any harm at all.
In the current Elbaf Arc, a total of four Knights of God have been summoned through this mysterious portal. Since this portal is clearly an important tool for the Knights of God, or even Imu himself, I assume we'll be seeing these portals pop up much more in upcoming episodes. Even though the design is pretty creepy, it's undeniably powerful, and honestly, I'd love to try using it at least once!
