QUICK TAKES

tigro's avatar
tigro
Zoro escalates his battle, pushing his Haki to the next level against CP0 forces. At the same time, Brook and Chopper provide crucial backup under pressure.

Watching Nusjuro turn those massive Pacifista units into pillars of ice was terrifying and he really showed why the Five Elders are on a completely different level than the Marines

I actually teared up a bit when Nami and Chopper were screaming for Edison because that little guy really gave everything he had just to give the Straw Hats a chance

Warcury just taking a red roc to the face and still coming back for more is getting ridiculous. These five elders feel completely immortal and it makes the whole escape feel like an impossible task
inosuke_instinct_129's avatar
inosuke_instinct_129
Seeing the ancient robot mention Joy Boy while everyone is fighting for their lives adds such a crazy layer to the story, and it makes me wonder if that thing is going to be the key to stopping the elders
nemurinavi_neko_470's avatar
nemurinavi_neko_470
Watching Edison and Stussy work together to drop the dome was actually pretty moving, and I keep thinking about how far she has come as a character. These elders are just something else though because no matter what Luffy or the giants throw at them they just keep getting back up. The way Mars found the snail at the end was such a gut punch
tatl_264's avatar
tatl_264
Bonney turning into a giant muscular version of herself and just decking that Vice Admiral was such a satisfying moment and Franky giving her a little nod made that tag team escape feel so legit
yiga_clan's avatar
yiga_clan
The way Akihiro Ota animated Luffy hitting Warcury with that Red Roc was incredible, and you could really feel the impact when the shockwave leveled the entire forest area
zumi_zephyr_498's avatar
zumi_zephyr_498
The Frontier Dome barrier was supposed to be this ultimate defense but everyone seems to just walk through it whenever the plot needs them to move somewhere else and it feels weird
rimuru_ruler_151's avatar
rimuru_ruler_151
Luffy eating that gross fermented shark meat from the giants was the most one piece way to get his energy back. Watching him go from a shriveled old man back to gear five in seconds was hilarious
inu_no_taisho's avatar
inu_no_taisho
Seeing Nusjuro shift into that centaur form right at the shoreline was a total nightmare and now Franky and Bonney look like they are in serious trouble against that blade

My heart sank when Mars found the broadcast snail at the very end of the episode. Seeing that massive bird shadow loom over the room made the whole situation feel so hopeless for Vegapunk and his reveal
erica_brown's avatar
erica_brown
That giant worm Ju Peter swallowing Luffy only for him to bounce around inside until he burst out was pure gear five madness. It is so weird seeing such a scary monster get treated like a cartoon toy
brassius's avatar

Luffy hitting that Red Roc looked insane and seeing Warcury just shrug it off like it was nothing really shows how dangerous the Elders actually are compared to every other villain
monk_mijah_301's avatar
monk_mijah_301
I felt so bad for Stussy when Edison told her that her guilt makes her human and then he just jumped into those explosions to lower the barrier for the crew
senkaimon_sentry's avatar
senkaimon_sentry
I was devastated watching Stussy choose to stay behind, especially with that mysterious smile she gave before the transmission cut out. It really shows how dangerous this escape is for everyone left on Egghead. Then that cliffhanger with Mars finding the broadcast snail was just cruel because it means the world might never hear Vegapunk's final message
sasuke_shadow_62's avatar
sasuke_shadow_62
The animation during the fight with the boar Elder was so fluid and fast that it actually made the usual pacing issues feel much less noticeable this week
narutorunner99's avatar
narutorunner99
I actually teared up when Edison jumped into the fire to drop the barrier and Nami reaching out her hand made it feel so much worse because they really might lose him
minako_aino_374's avatar
minako_aino_374
Bonney punching out Vice Admiral Pomsky while in her buff form was so satisfying to watch. She is finally showing everyone that she can hold her own against the marines while trying to save her father
panda_power_138's avatar
panda_power_138
I felt so bad for Stussy having to choose between her old life and helping the straw hats escape. Her resolve to stay behind and handle the barrier shows how much she actually cares about her friends

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off Episode 1145's unification of Luffy and the Warriors of Elbaph against powerful enemies, this episode pivots to the strategic side of the conflict by spotlighting Stussy and Edison's contributions. It functions as a critical bridge episode, ratcheting up tension and positioning key players ahead of Episode 1147, 'A Stunning Conclusion: Vegapunk's Great Prediction,' which promises a significant narrative turning point. The Vegapunk-centric storyline is clearly building toward a climactic moment, and this episode lays the emotional and tactical groundwork for that payoff.
