I believe many of you have noticed that one of the most famous dark shonen manga, Black Torch, will start to air on July 4, 2026. For those who love Black Torch, this may be the greatest news you have received for the upcoming anime season. For those who are wondering what I am talking about, it is actually one of the manga that was once published in the same manga magazine as Demon Slayer, and it is going to release its anime in the upcoming season!

Black Torch is a legendary work. Although it is not as famous as Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, or even My Hero Academia—and even got canceled—it still had a lot of hardcore fans. A lot of people loved this incredible manga, which ultimately gave it a chance to get an anime adaptation and gave us the chance to watch it.
Just so everyone is on the same page, the Black Torch anime hasn't been released yet. It is officially scheduled to premiere in Japan and on streaming platforms on July 4, 2026, so currently, we can only watch the trailers. They are absolutely free on YouTube, and I've watched all of them. From these trailers, we can already tell how amazing the animation is.

Although we only have trailers so far, based on their quality, I'm confident in declaring Black Torch a must-watch for the upcoming season. I know that besides my own thoughts, you might have some burning questions about this new series, so I've listed them below. I hope these FAQs help you start your own journey into Black Torch!
Why should we be excited about Black Torch? There are two reasons why I think Black Torch is worth watching for most people. I think 100studio has done a great job with the anime. As the animation is incredible, especially the fighting scenes, which I believe everyone will be satisfied with. Although the trailers are all we have right now, they are really amazing, and I do think everyone should give it a try.
The second reason is the experienced voice acting cast. Just from the trailers, we can already tell they are doing an amazing job. If you are someone who loves Jujutsu Kaisen, then I am sure you will be attracted to this anime, as many of the characters are voiced by the same actors from Jujutsu Kaisen.

Why everyone should be watching it episode by episode instead of waiting. I know there are two types of anime watchers: one type watches anime episode by episode, while the other waits for the whole series to finish so they can watch it all at once. Personally, I think Black Torch is an anime everyone should watch episode by episode. Since this anime is highly focused on battle animation, and it looks really good, I don't think you will be able to hold yourself back for that long without giving it a try.
The honest downside. No anime is perfect. Even though I am really excited for this anime and have praised it a lot in this post, there's always a chance it could flop. After watching all the trailers, I feel that this anime might lack a strong and interesting story. However, it really reminds me of Demon Slayer in terms of animation quality.
Based on the trailers, the animation is clearly the standout, but I can't speak to the story since I haven't read the manga. If story depth matters to you, it might be worth waiting for early episode reviews before committing.

Thank you for reading this post! I completely understand everyone's hesitation; no one wants to invest their time and energy into an anime that might suddenly go downhill or face massive backlash. For those of you who want to wait for the community's feedback before diving in, I highly recommend using AnimeOshi. Once Black Torch starts airing, fans will be leaving their episode-by-episode reviews, so you'll know exactly whether it's a must-watch or a pass!
