Happy Valentine's Day 2026: 3 Rom-Com Anime You Must Watch

Valentine 2026 has arrived! How are you going to celebrate? I hope everyone has a date this year, but even if you don’t, no worries—anime is always there for you. There are so many romance titles out there, but personally, I love romantic comedies (rom-coms). I mean, isn’t it better to enjoy a good laugh and a love story at the same time?
Out of all the anime out there, there are three rom-com titles I strongly recommend watching this Valentine's Day. These are stories that will keep you laughing all day while still delivering that sweet romantic feeling. To ensure you have the best viewing experience, I won’t share too many details here; I'll stick to the minimum information you need to get started!

Komi Can't Communicate:
The first title I strongly recommend is Komi Can't Communicate, also known as Miss Komi Has Difficulties in Communicating. The story is quite simple: it follows our heroine, Shoko Komi, who struggles with a severe communication disorder as she tries to navigate a new life alongside Hitohito Tadano.
Unlike many protagonists in other rom-coms, Tadano is bright, positive, and has the energy to do anything for Komi. After learning about Komi’s simple wish, Tadano doesn’t hesitate to help her reach her goal. As a rom-com, the romance between them is incredibly sweet, while the comedy is genuinely hilarious.
Tadano is truly "husband material." Throughout the series, he is always willing to go the extra mile for Komi, which ultimately changes her life as her wish is fulfilled little by little. There is so much to love about this series, but above all, the everyday interactions between Komi and Tadano are so cute they will melt your heart.
Although this is just my personal thought, I truly believe Tadano is a character we should all learn from. Throughout the anime, Tadano uses his actions to teach us many things, but most importantly, he shows us that love is not about grand gestures, but about understanding and effort — something that perfectly fits the spirit of Valentine’s Day.
Even though Komi is the "heroine" and the prettiest girl in the series, her communication disorder meant that no one could really get close to her. Tadano shows us through his actions how important it is to put in the effort to understand someone and step into their world to achieve real communication.
Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota:
The next title I strongly recommend is Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota, also known as Kao ni Denai Kashiwada-san to Kao ni Deru Ōta-kun. The plot is quite simple: it’s all about our main character constantly teasing his classmate in a playful way, Kashiwada. You can think of it as the opposite version of Teasing Master Takagi-san.
This title is relatively new, and I assume many people haven’t heard of it yet, but it’s actually a great watch for everyone. Since the story is about a boy teasing a girl, Oota is always playfully challenging Kashiwada. Every day, he thinks of new ways to play with or make fun of Kashiwada, but his plans almost always end in failure!
Based on my explanation, it might seem like Oota is bullying Kashiwada every day. Even the other characters in the story think he's picking on her and that she’s failing to fight back! Everyone feels pity for her, but in reality, she’s actually enjoying it. After all, having the boy you like constantly thinking about you isn't a bad thing, right?
Even though Oota is always planning his next "prank," his head is completely full of Kashiwada. He doesn't even notice other girls because he’s so focused on her all the time. Since he is always trying to figure out how to get a reaction out of her, it’s only natural that he starts to develop feelings. When you think about a girl every single day, how can you not fall for her?
Oota, while trying to have fun at Kashiwada’s expense, has begun to feel something deeper. On the other hand, Kashiwada truly enjoys her daily life being teased by the one she likes. Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota is a great title for Valentine’s Day; it gives you a simple, sweet love story about a boy who teases the girl he likes and a girl who loves the attention. Not every love story starts with fireworks — sometimes it begins with a simple tease in the classroom.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War:
The last title I strongly recommend is the super famous Kaguya-sama: Love is War, also known as Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Ren'ai Zunousen. Personally, I think this isn't just a great anime for Valentine's Day—it's a must-watch for everyone! The story is quite simple, especially in Season 1: it follows student council president Miyuki Shirogane and vice president Kaguya Shinomiya as they compete with each other every day to see who can force the other to confess first.
By the time the anime begins, Miyuki and Kaguya have already worked together in the student council for a year. They know each other well and have already started developing feelings. Because of this, the series jumps right into the action, with both of them trying to "win" by making the other person play the role of the "loser" who has to confess their love.
For those who haven't seen this series, let me quickly explain why there is a "war" inside a love story. Although they are just students, they both have their own circumstances—especially Kaguya—that make them care deeply about winning. To them, losing is just too scary to admit. Throughout Kaguya-sama: Love is War, we see the growth and romance of Miyuki and Kaguya, but since much of that deeper development happens in Season 2, Season 1 focuses mainly on the romantic comedy.
Miyuki and Kaguya are both incredibly clever and knowledgeable, so watching them compete is genuinely fun. On top of that, the series features fantastic side characters like Chika Fujiwara and Yu Ishigami. They make every competition funnier and more interesting, ultimately taking the anime to the next level.
Kaguya and Miyuki have actually been in love since Episode 1. Even though they deny the truth and pretend not to feel anything, they truly care for one another. The best part of the romance in Kaguya-sama is that no matter what kind of "war" they are fighting, it’s all just spice for their love story. No matter what happens in their games, their underlying bond remains unshakable.
Conclusion:
Komi Can't Communicate, Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota and Kaguya-sama: Love is War are the three rom-com anime you must watch in Valentine 2026 from me. Of course, beside this three titles, My Dress-Up Darling, Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro, Ganbare Douki-chan: The Coworker is Suffering from Social Inequality are also great titles that you may have interested.
