Seeing more of Shizuka’s past added a lot to her character, and the way she finally stood her ground felt really satisfying. It hit harder than I expected.

Akira finally snaps (in a good way). That “tell him off” moment? Catharsis. Shizuka MVP here. Feels like reclaiming agency arc completed.

This episode gets dark. watching Akira slip back into that hollow corporate shell is uncomfortable. the visual storytelling here? the way the color drains again? masterful. Shizuka's backstory ties in perfectly. this is the emotional core of the series. 😶

Episode Context

Directly following Episode 6's 'RV of the Dead,' where Akira's group crossed paths with Kosugi's community, this episode digs into the consequences of that encounter and the power dynamics at play within the new group. Sitting at the season's midpoint, it serves as the emotional and thematic anchor before the crew moves on, setting up Episode 8's 'Sushi & Hot Springs of the Dead' where the journey resumes with new faces and lighter energy.
