YuruYuri: Happy Go Lily
Oshimeter
Synopsis
After a year in grade school without her childhood friends, first year student Akari Akaza is finally reunited with second years Yui Funami and Kyouko Toshinou at their all-girls' middle school. During the duo's first year, Yui and Kyouko formed the "Amusement Club" which occupies the now nonexistent Tea Club's room. Shortly after Akari joins, one of her fellow classmates, Chinatsu Yoshikawa, pays the trio a visit under the impression that they are the Tea Club; it is only once the three girls explain that the Tea Club has been disbanded that they can convince Chinatsu to join the Amusement Club—a group with no purpose other than to provide entertainment for its members. Based on the slice-of-life manga by Namori, Yuru Yuri is an eccentric comedy about a group of girls who spend their spare time drinking tea and fawning over each other, all while completely failing to even notice the supposed main character Akari amongst them.

It was pretty eventful. We ended up seeing Chitose on a spree, lol. The two tsunderes were the only ones who remained safe from the tragedy. Akari got attacked twice by Chitose, too T_T The pacing this time is really good, though. And we got to see Ayano being proactive. Finally! I'm a little bitter about them not noticing for a while that Akari was missing, though. Seriously, I hated that. Even at the end of the season, she was low-key sidelined. I don't know if it's all for the gag, but man, it wasn't that funny anymore to me.
I got mixed feelings about this. But I'm giving it a rating of five since I really liked how the 'lesson' came down to everyone. It was short but a tad bittersweet in a sense. But I guess it just goes to show how much effect Kyouko have on everyone around her after all. That aside... my poor Akari at the end. Y'all didn't even try to enjoy the 'change', what the heck!
Pretty fun school trip. The food looked really delicious too. It's good to see all the second years have fun together. Although I wanted some screentime for Akari, Chitose carried it for me, so I'm all good XD Kyouko is too chaotic, though. Watching it while my sister was being insufferable beside me really drained the life out of my body. They're both so noisy and high on energy; I can totally understand Yui's stress, lol.
It's pretty uneventful, but full of silly imaginations. Kyouko even broke the fourth wall lol. Also, was it Hell Girl cameo?? Dang, didn't think I'd see her in a cute art style XD --- kidding, damn, it wasn't her. Crazy lookalike though. We get to see new characters, though, and I'm really liking it. So adorable
I like this ep. It's funny like usual, but I'm really happy to be able to know more things about Chitose, even though the means were somewhat unconventional. I didn't expect that little fun fact about her 'family,' though.
I'm liking the rare pairs we have in this ep. Though of course, I rooted for Sakurako and Himawari, along with Akari being with Chitose. It's a pretty fun episode. We got to see Akari interact with another character more apart from the main three. One pair looked like an old couple for some reason despite the bickering. Another looked like those couples who were still starting out, so awkward lol. Kyouko's silly as usual, but I think this was one of the few times I thought of her as really cool. Chinatsu got to see that side, and I think it's good progress. I wanted Ayano to be paired with Kyouko, though, but oh well, I guess we can't have everything in the world. Either way, I'm happy to see Akari enjoy herself for once instead of barely having any meaningful screentime.
Though the pacing had grown on me and I like how they all have fun in different ways each episode, the writing is starting to annoy me. Specifically, the way they've been writing Akari. Is she really part of the main cast, or is she just some punchline? A comedic relief? I'm having war flashbacks when it was Nico Yazawa who kept getting sidelined, and I'm seeing it all over again here. Even if it's more of a moe, cutesy side, it's really getting on my nerves now. I was really looking forward to Akari's story, too, but they just had to end it that way.
I think I enjoyed this ep a little more. I mean I guess it's because I got to see more of Chitose's... reason? Well, being a hardcore fan of that genre sure of its quirks (like her high-frequency gaydar lol). Sakurako and Himawari, well, I'm totally digging this ship. I love their dynamics, and previously I've only ever seen them bicker and all that, but in this ep they seemed more at ease with each other. Even though they still bicker from time to time, I find it really interesting. I wonder how these two even became friends or met each other. Himawari's little sister was really cute, too, but damn girl, what did society feed you to be saying such profound things like that XD That aside.... I know they're friends and all that. But even so, Akari said no, but Chinatsu was too pushy about it. I do find the part of Kyouko and Yui walking in on them but bro, I feel sorry for Akari.
I'm really glad they finally got to all hang out together. They also get along really well. I find the tsunderes endearing, too. I just really can't get past the episode for its overly borderline explicit scenes. I get it; it's cute, they're all girls, too. But yeah, it doesn't sit comfortably with me since they're middle schoolers. Ignoring that part, I think the episode is really good. They had so much fun, and I also had fun watching them enjoy themselves like normal kids and all that.
I'm starting to get used to the slow, pretty chill pace of the episodes. I'm also enjoying the little moments: eating lunch together, getting groceries, and all that stuff. Kyouko's still extra silly, and Akari is really growing on me, too. I love their friendship, reminds me of the peaceful days back in the day.
Okay, I need to start this with: what the actual f.... No, no, hear me out. They're middle schoolers, and yet we're, what, shown something like 'that'?? Pretty crazy move, I'd say. It started out really good, and I found myself somehow thrilled cause there were new characters. Then suddenly I get hit with that? The only reason this episode gets a four out of five was that learning something new about the characters was cool, and I really find their dynamics interesting. The pacing had also gotten better since the first one, at least for me. It's just that one annoyingly somewhat explicit scene didn't sit right with me cause they're literally middle schoolers.
I've always seen and known of this anime, but I've never been able to watch it until now. I like slow-paced anime, or school-related ones, but the first few minutes of this ep didn't exactly land. The characters looked really cute, though the art style wasn't exactly my type. It did grow on me somehow, little by little, so there's that. Story-wise, this ep was... slow in the sense that I felt myself get bored by the first half. The rating I gave, however, was high solely because I liked how silly it got by the second half of the episode. I like my anime silly, and it lowkey hit the spot. Well, barely, but it did, and that was the point, ahaha. So far, I'm neutral on the characters, but I hope to I get to have a fave soon!
Another group sleepover is here! Everyone lives together, acts silly, and competes. Poor Akari is still so forgotten that I'm starting to forget she's a main character too! And teacher, what kind of alarm clock was that?! Also, that ending was way too random!
This episode takes us back to their funny childhood memories, and wow, everyone has changed so much! Then something crazy happens—Kyouko suddenly becomes super serious and righteous?! So many funny moments follow, and by the end, someone else changes too! What is going on?!
It's time for a school trip! Watching everyone stay together, have fun, and enjoy their time with friends really makes me miss school life. It feels so healing! Kyouko's silly and shameless behavior is hilarious, and Chitose's final nosebleed scene is crazier than ever!
This episode is pretty simple, using random conversations and imagination for comedy. But finally, the student council president appears! I expected someone scary, but she is nothing like a president at all! And that Akari scene at the beginning... what was that?!
This episode is hilarious, especially Chitose Ikeda! It sounds like she is telling one lie after another, but somehow, everything is actually true! The moment everyone realizes she isn't lying anymore, their reactions are exactly like mine. So funny!
Everyone pairs up and acts like couples for a day, giving us some unexpected and funny chemistry!Kyouko and Chinatsu are the best part, especially when Kyouko actually manages to touch Chinatsu's heart for once. How? Go watch it yourself!
This episode is a fun mix of art and comedy! The drawing and clay activities create so many hilarious moments. Kyouko somehow wastes her artistic talent on the weirdest things, while Chinatsu's art is... well, you have to see it yourself!
This episode has many different funny moments! Ayano expects to hang out alone with Kyouko, but it turns into a group of four and they somehow end up working! Sakurako using Himawari's sister to threaten her is hilarious too. And then there is poor Akari's tragic story... she is just too pitiful!
