Episode Context

Season 2 opens with a setup episode built on preparation and suspicion rather than action. Lua Restoatt takes on the public role of Rose Princess for the kingdom's birthday festival, stepping into a courtly, ceremonial duty that governs the episode's cool pacing. Shiji Rubin accompanies her as her guard, while former Rose Princess Nerne Sandra becomes the most immediate source of friction. Nerne's openly cold response makes every encounter feel unstable and charged. The mood stays guarded and restrained: Lua is committed to a plan, and the episode measures the personal cost of that commitment through ceremony, watchfulness, and the tension around the people assigned to guide or protect her.
