Synopsis

Her first life ends abruptly, but Rinko Hanasaki wakes up as Raeliana McMillan, a minor character in a novel she read — specifically, the minor character who gets murdered by her own fiancé. Not exactly a lucky draw in the reincarnation lottery. Armed with knowledge of the plot, Raeliana decides she's not going to sit around waiting to die. Her solution? Strike a deal with Duke Noah Wynknight, the novel's actual male lead, to pose as her fiancé and get her out of her engagement with the guy destined to kill her. The catch is Noah is sharp, calculating, and has his own secrets — so their arrangement is less fairy-tale romance and more strategic negotiation between two people who are both a little too clever for their own good. This 12-episode TV series from 2023 leans into the slow-burn romantic tension between Raeliana and Noah while weaving in court intrigue and just enough mystery to keep things from feeling predictable. Raeliana herself is the real draw — she's not a passive heroine waiting to be saved, she's actively rewriting her fate chapter by chapter. If you liked My Next Life as a Villainess for the isekai-into-a-story premise but wanted something with more romantic stakes, or if Re:Zero's idea of fighting against a predetermined fate appeals to you but you're in the mood for something lighter and more elegant, this one fits that niche really well.

The story is solidified by an interesting framework that supports the plot, despite its slow pace. You will get completely hooked by its intriguing narrative direction. Plus, the color palette and overall ambiance make the visuals stunningly on point, creating a beautiful fairytale cinematic aesthetic.

They show affection but they haven't cross the acknowledgement of love, especially Noah. The guy has the recipe of a man with issues of commitment. So it's nice that the story is taking its time for Noah to ruminate the feeling of attraction to love. But the moments Raeliana and Noah shared hits just right as they grew closer.

The animation became a bit choppy than before. The antagonist' motivation are refreshingly evil from their apathy. The pacing was a bit hasty, mostly because we only get a few seconds scene of Noah's being expressive. Otherwise, Raeliana was such a hype character for this episode.
