Synopsis
Tokyo is drowning under rain that literally never stops falling, and into this waterlogged city arrives 16-year-old runaway Hodaka Morishima from the countryside with no money, no plan, and no connections. He scrapes by with a job writing for a sketchy occult magazine, which is about as glamorous as it sounds. Then he meets Hina Amano, an orphaned girl supporting her little brother Nagi, who happens to have this impossible gift: she can pray and part the clouds, bringing actual sunshine to a city drowning under endless gray skies. Naturally, they start a business out of it. Sunshine for hire. Things go well for a while, but this is a Makoto Shinkai movie, so you know the emotional gut-punch is coming. The real question the film asks is deceptively simple: how far would you go for one person, even if it meant the whole world pays the price? If you loved Your Name, this is Shinkai working in similar territory: gorgeous teenagers, impossible circumstances, a Radwimps soundtrack that hits in all the right places, but with a more morally complicated ending that people still argue about. The animation from CoMix Wave Films is genuinely breathtaking; every raindrop, every puddle reflection, every beam of light breaking through clouds feels painstakingly crafted. Fans of The Garden of Words will recognize Shinkai's obsession with weather as emotion. It's a romantic, bittersweet film that sticks with you, and at just under two hours, it earns every minute.

Wow, I mean wow. That's all I can say about this. This was quite simply an emotional rollercoaster, as somebody who's watched this for the first time I will say this movie was incredible to say the least. Animation is pretty much on the same level as a Studio Ghibli film, I was invested in the story so much, love the dynamic between Hodoka and Hina and no spoilers but I'm pretty certain that it's gonna hit you in the feels at some points in the movie. A huge recommend with this one, my god it's amazing. I'm not gonna say if it's a worthy successor to Your Name, that's up to everyone else watching but I will say this: go into it with a clear mind, you certainly aren't going to regret this at all.
It tells a love story about a runaway boy and a girl who can stop the rain. The visuals and music are gorgeous. However, the story feels a bit messy and repeats ideas from his older film, Your Name. Still, it is a touching and emotional watch.

I think I almost cried watching this movie since I watched it in the cinema, absolute cinema! But looking back at it, I think I’d enjoy Your Name more than this one. Also, the fact he chose a girl over an entire city full of people is crazy!

the rain scenes are just not fair like every frame is a wallpaper, I won't spoil it but It’s a cool look at Tokyo never ending rainstorm, And i thought the characters were gonna be boring but they just sneak up on you and then that ending hits.

You’ll love this movie if you like Your Name anime. The animation is top notch especially the "rain" animation. The pacing is a slow burn but it hits hard at the end. While the MC is a bit impulsive but their bond is pure!
it is another Shinkai masterpiece that hits even harder than Your Name in some ways. Pacing is excellent, it starts with gritty runaway struggles and light comedy, then smoothly builds into emotional depth and wonder without dragging. Animation is breathtaking. Great one

Literally one of the most beautiful movie I have ever watched. It is one of my top 5 movies and I watch it whenever I want to relax and have a good cry. The characters being so young yet having such intense life experiences was so beautifully executed, as expected of Shinkai.

Makato sensai another movie. I really like it. This is different from your name movie. The girl portrait to sun shining girl. It's good concept. And their understanding caring it's awesome. Their collaboration of the work make funny and some sad. Finally they are meet together.
