I do like the self-contained style of this anime, as we follow Elaina's journey. This time, I feel like it explored grief, in a sense. I would've prefer it if we can let Elaina to relate a bit with the new character, but this is already fun as it is. The fighting scene was good.
Also has strong fairy tale vibes, and it is even darker than before, with a whole destroyed city serving as the centerpiece of the episode. There is also a greater mystery behind the destruction, and the only survivor of the place. Also, the monster design was quite good.
What a great episode. It teaches us that love can overcome anything—for better or for worse. I love that Elaina keeps the promise she made to her mother not to get involved in dangerous situations. Let’s keep watching the amazing adventures of this ash witch.
