EPISODE REVIEWS

Character development is at its peak, and the animation and soundtrack are top-notch. Overall, it’s a 9.5/10 episode in every aspect.

Episode Context

Coming off 'Awakening,' where Thorfinn began reckoning with his violent past on Ketil's farm, Episode 5 deliberately pivots to Canute's storyline, establishing the political thread that will run parallel to Thorfinn's personal transformation throughout Season 2. This early shift signals that the season is building two converging narratives, one internal, one external, whose collision will define the back half of this 24-episode run. It lays essential groundwork for the power struggles over England that will eventually pull Thorfinn's world back into the orbit of kings and war.
