📖 SYNOPSIS
During the Jinshin-no-Ran civil war of 762, a child with a small horn is born, deemed an oni and cast away by his mother. An elderly shūgenja woman rescues the child, naming him Utsunomiko, signifying the union of heaven and earth. Raised in the wilderness, Utsunomiko learns the ways of Shugendō, developing spiritual powers. Driven by curiosity, he ventures into villages, witnessing the suffering and poverty of the common people. Witnessing the self-serving actions of the rulers, Utsunomiko uses his abilities to aid the oppressed. His growing anger at the Imperial Court's injustices leads him into open conflict, setting him on a path as a champion for the downtrodden and a force against those in power.
